The Mid and South Pinellas Long-Term Care Ombudsman Council will hold its public meetings each third Thursday of the month, 10:30 a.m. at the Mary Grizzle State Building, 11351 Ulmerton Road. All interested parties are invited to attend. The April meeting will be at 11 a.m. at the Olive Garden in Largo Mall for a volunteer appreciation celebration. This council is part of Florida’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program which is made up of local ombudsmen whose goal is to improve the quality of life and care of residents of long-term care facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult family care homes, and skilled nursing units in hospitals. An ombudsman is a specially trained and certified volunteer who has been given authority under federal and state law to identify, investigate and resolve complaints made by or on behalf of long-term care facility residents.
